Adaptive Software Solutions for Grade Recovery
Diagnostic Lesson Plans and Curriculums
Diagnostic Assessments in reading/language arts and math were designed in conjunction with researchers to be adaptive, so they quickly “drill down” and determine the strengths and weaknesses of a student across several strands of learning in reading/language arts and math. Results are used by the software to generate an individualized instructional path to meet the specific needs of each student.
Targeted Group Interventions
Reports enable teachers to group students with similar needs. Teachers can project lessons on a screen or whiteboard and review examples with the students or use prompts to guide discussions of reading passages. Thereafter, students can work on their individual needs.
Adaptive Diagnostic Test
Students begin the program with an adaptive diagnostic test that serves as a universal screening tool, identifying struggling students and their educational needs. The level of the test changes in response to the students’ answers, determining each student’s grade-level proficiency in several strands of learning -- even for students who perform significantly below their enrollment grade. The assessment identifies skill gaps from kindergarten to 10th grade in reading/ELA and kindergarten to Algebra 1 in math.
Progress Monitoring
Interim assessments are embedded in each student’s Individualized Achievement Plan, continually assessing achievement across different strands of learning. Separate assessments need not be administered for comprehension and vocabulary, or for early algebra and long division. Weekly and monthly reports quickly identify group needs and provide in-depth input on each student. Most importantly, New Century’s reports guide teachers in setting goals and monitoring progress toward goals to determine if a student needs to be moved to another tier. Results are reported regularly to parents, in both English and Spanish.
